AC Not Cooling? Here's What to Check First

By BOBS Auto Services Β Β·Β  March 15, 2025

There's nothing worse than getting in your car on a hot day only to find the AC blowing warm air. Before you assume the worst, here's a logical troubleshooting approach:

Check the Simple Stuff First 1. Is the AC actually turned on? It sounds obvious, but check that the AC button is engaged, not just the fan. 2. Is the cabin air filter clogged? A severely clogged cabin filter restricts airflow and can make it feel like the AC isn't working even when it is. 3. Is the front of the condenser blocked? Leaves, debris, or bugs packed into the front grille can block airflow to the condenser and reduce cooling significantly.

Common AC Problems - Low refrigerant: The most frequent cause of warm AC. Refrigerant doesn't "run out" β€” if it's low, there's a leak that needs to be found and repaired, not just recharged. - Failing compressor: The compressor pumps refrigerant through the system. A worn or seized compressor means no cooling. - Condenser or evaporator damage: Physical damage or blockages in either component will hurt performance. - Electrical issues: Faulty relays, fuses, or wiring can prevent the compressor from engaging.

When to Come In If the AC is blowing warm air, making noise, or working intermittently, bring it to BOBS Auto Services. We perform a full AC system inspection, leak test, and refrigerant recharge if needed. We won't just charge your system β€” we'll find the leak first to make sure the repair lasts.
