Regular oil changes are the single most important maintenance service you can do for your engine. But how often is "regular"?
Conventional Oil: If your vehicle uses conventional motor oil, you should change it every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Older vehicles and those driven in severe conditions (extreme heat, lots of short trips, dusty environments) benefit from the shorter interval.
Synthetic Blend: Synthetic blend oils last longer than conventional β typically 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes.
Full Synthetic Oil: Full synthetic motor oil, used in most modern vehicles, can last 7,500 to 10,000 miles β and some manufacturers even allow up to 15,000 miles. Always check your owner's manual for the manufacturer's recommendation.
Signs Your Oil Needs Changing - Dark or gritty oil on the dipstick - Oil level is low - Oil pressure warning light is on - Engine running louder than normal - Excessive exhaust smoke
The old "3,000 miles every 3 months" rule is outdated for most modern vehicles. At BOBS Auto Services, we check your specific vehicle and recommend the correct interval to protect your engine and your wallet.
